Rejected?
I still haven't gotten a rejection letter, but I think I'm off the list...
I asked the Astronaut Selection Office if there was any progress, and got the response that they have selected "483 of the 6,100 applicants for the highly qualified group, and selected 120 from that group for initial interviews." Since I wasn't contacted, I'm just not in that group. Oh well, next time!

New Chief Astronaut
Recently the Chief of the Astronaut Office changed from Peggy Whitson to Robert Behnken. This could explain the delay in selecting candidate astronauts (still haven't heard anything.)

The competition
The Air Force has nominated 111 airmen for the Astronaut Candidate program. They include 110 officers, ranging from captain to colonel, and one senior master sergeant.
